Dr. Earlean Gladney-Kirkland Memorial Scholarship

Dr. Gladney-Kirkland was a devoted educator.  This scholarship is dedicated in her honor to supporting a rising college sophomore or junior who demonstrates a commitment to academic achievement and community engagement.  It is sponsored by UOO Chapter Member Katrina K. Wilson.

Requirements:

  • Scholarship Application (complete with all requested information)
  • Rising sophomore or junior at an accredited four-year university or college
  • Resident of Lexington or Richland County
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Official transcript
  • Enrolled full-time for the 2026-2027 academic school year
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation 
  • Appropriate headshot for publication purposes

Faith in Action Scholarship for Women in Ministry

This scholarship supports women who demonstrate academic excellence, spiritual discernment, and a clear commitment to serving others through faith-informed leadership.

Requirements:

  • Resident of Richland County or Lexington County, SC
  • Scholarship Application (complete with all requested information)
  •  Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at a regionally accredited institution of higher education or a graduating high school student accepted into a regionally accredited institution of higher education
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Academic Transcript (Official or Unofficial)
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  •  Appropriate headshot for publication purposes
  • Field of Study (Major or Minor) in one of the following: Religion, Theology, Ministry, Biblical Studies, Chaplaincy, Christian or Pastoral Counseling, Intercultural Studies, Religious Education or closely related disciplines

The Audry Streater Davis and Gladys Streater Sweeney Education Scholarship

These 2 women were educators who devoted their lives to the field of education. By supporting aspiring educators, this scholarship seeks to continue their legacy. This scholarship is awarded to a rising sophomore, junior, or senior in the field of education. It is sponsored by UOO Chapter members, Theresa Counts-Davis, Christine Counts-Davis, and Mr. Daniel Davis.


Requirements:

  • Scholarship Application (complete with all requested information)
  • Resident of Lexington County, SC
  • Rising sophomore, junior or senior of an accredited four-year university or college
  • Enrolled full-time during the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Official Transcript
  • A Letter of Recommendation
  • Appropriate headshot for publication purposes

Stacey Maricheau Thomas Memorial Scholarship

The Stacey Maricheau Thomas Scholarship honors her legacy of leadership, service, and commitment to education as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and charter member of Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter. This scholarship is awarded to an active member of Mu, Psi, Theta Gamma, or Upsilon Zeta who demonstrate a passion for learning, community service, and making a positive impact.

Requirements:

  • Scholarship Application (complete with all requested information)
  • Enrolled full-time during the 2026-2027 academic year
  • Member in good standing financially and academically 
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Official Transcript
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation 
  • Provide documentation of leadership and involvement within chapter, on campus and in the community
  • Appropriate headshot for publication purposes

2026 Upsilon Omega Omega Scholarship

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter is pleased to announce its annual UOO college scholarship awards. Applicants must be a high school senior planning to enter a four year accredited college/university in the fall of 2026. Applicants must be attending a public high school in Lexington County or Richland/Lexington School District Five.

Requirements:

  • Scholarship Application (complete with all requested information)
  • Cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Official High School Transcript
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation 
  • Attend school in Lexington County or Richland/Lexington School District Five
  • Provide acceptance into a four year accredited college or university

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter is pleased to announce its 2026 Tera Davis-Adams Memorial Scholarship. Applicants must be a high school senior planning to enter a four year accredited historically black college or university in the fall of 2026. Applicants must be a graduating high school senior in Lexington or Richland County School Districts.

Requirements: 

  • Scholarship Application (complete with all requested information)
  • Cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Official High School Transcript
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Graduating Senior in Lexington or Richland County School Districts
  • Provide acceptance into a four year accredited HBCU

2026 Watson Dream Catcher Scholarship

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter is pleased to announce its 2026 Watson Dream Catcher Scholarship. This scholarship is dedicated to supporting and empowering African American students who aspire to break barriers in careers, service, and/or sports where African Americans are underrepresented. It is sponsored by UOO Charter Member Robyn Davis Watson. 

Requirements: 

  • African American high school senior or undergraduate student
  • Attend or attended a school in Richland School District 2 or Lexington/Richland School District Five
  • Pursuing a major sport or career in an underrepresented field for African Americans
  • Exhibits leadership, perseverance, and a dedication to achieving their dreams 
  • Cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale

Optus Bank & Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® Upsilon Omega Omega Chapter is pleased to announce its annual Modjeska Monteith Simkins Legacy Scholarship. Applicants must be a high school senior planning to enter a four-year college/university in the Fall of 2026. Applicants must attend a public high school in Richland School District One or Richland School District Two. 

Requirements:

  • Cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Official High School Transcript

2026 Michelle Alston Memorial Scholarship

The Michelle Alston Memorial Scholarship is awarded to graduating high school seniors who plan to major in the Arts at an accredited Historically Black College/University. It seeks to support students who demonstrate artistic talent, dedication to their craft, and a commitment to using their gifts to positively impact their communities. Through this scholarship, Michelle’s legacy continues encouraging young artists to pursue their dreams, honor their creativity, and carry forward a love for the arts that transcends generations.

Requirements: 

  • Scholarship Application (complete with all requested information)
  • Cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Official High School Transcript
  • Graduating High School Senior in Richland School District One or Two or Lexington/Richland School District Five
  • Majoring in Arts-Visual Arts, Dance, Music, Creative Writing or Drama
  • Provide acceptance letter into a four year HBCU  
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation 
  • Demonstrate talent or commitment to the Arts
